Accepting applicants for TEMPORARY BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER with the City of Lewiston’s Public Works Department. Applications are available at the Human Resources Department or online at www.lewistonmaine.gov

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:           Department:  Public Works

Division:        Public Buildings

Barg. Unit:     Non-Union, Temporary

Schedule:      Full-Time, Day Shift

Pay Rate:       Starting at $18.69/hour       

 

SUMMARY: A Building Maintenance Worker performs a variety of facility maintenance and minor building construction tasks, including manual labor, custodial duties and related work, as required.

 

SCHEDULE: Mon.-Fri. 9:00am – 5:00pm. Additional time may be required for projects and/or during peak seasons.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma, or equivalent, plus two (2) years building maintenance experience. Must have a valid State of Maine Class B driver’s license (Class A preferred).

 

WORK ACTIVITIES: Performs routine building maintenance such as plumbing, carpentry and painting repairs, replacement of light fixtures and bulbs, and general operation of custodial equipment. Cleans and maintains building exteriors including snow removal, landscaping and litter removal, and exterior structural repair. Maintains heating, air conditioning and alarm systems and their components. Operates various equipment such as pick-up trucks, 1-ton plow trucks, single and tandem axle dump trucks with plow/wing, skid-steer loaders, bobcats, sidewalk plows and other various equipment and tools needed for maintenance operations. Performs other duties as assigned.
